Statement of Seamus Qualter

“I wish to pass on my extreme gratitude to everyone in Roscommon hurling for the opportunity to take over as manager in February. It was an onerous task to take the reins at a low point, bottom of the league but we managed to gain promotion v Armagh when Brendan Mulry lifted the cup in Pairc Tailteann. It was an unbelievable turn around by the players considering we drew with Fermanagh in our first game and managed to reach the final, Fermanagh were subsequently relegated and Roscommon were promoted, such is Sport. My sincere thanks go to Daithi Hand and Petie Galvin for coming in at a difficult time to coach the team, also to Lauren Naughton, Kaitlinn and Paul Kenny who helped with physio.. To Basil Jones who excelled with with the kit van and Fiona who provided the stats, a big thank you. Thanks to Franko Doolin for his help and the U20 management of Mike Fallon, Kieran Farrell and Mike Mullins for training with us to move things forward. To Christy McDermott, Padraic Mulry, Anne Connaughton and those entrusted in the running of Roscommon hurling at a board level, a sincere thanks. Also Micheal Mulry and Damien Lohan for match day help. To the players, thanks for a great year and onwards and upwards for you all. Thanks to Padraic Dolan from Padraig Pearses who in the twilight of his career answered the call. To the new Manager, best of luck, these are a great bunch, up a division now and willing to learn. Thanks to Sean and Bernie at the Peppermill in Roscommon for the excellent facilities and Paul from Dan’s Tavern for his catering facilities.
Roscommon Hurling Abu…keep her lit lads.”
